In the draining floor category, Indfloor Group is launching a new professional flooring system, implemented in one of the most daring flooring projects nationwide. The rehabilitation of Piata Cetatii [the Citadel Square] in the city of Baia Mare, in 2014, allowed the Indfloor Group team to introduce the product Conipave, a stone-based draining floor, into its portfolio.
In 2014, actions were started to rehabilitate an important objective in the city of Baia Mare, Piața Cetății [the Citadel Square] – Turnul lui Ștefan [Stephen’s Tower], a prestigious area with an important tourist attraction. The project, emblematic for Baia Mare, aimed to modernize and rehabilitate the historical and public edifices in Piața Cetății [the Citadel Square], which included the restoration of the pedestrian surface with draining stone-based floors.
In 2014, in close collaboration with the designer of the rehabilitation works, the “9 Optiune” architectural company, represented by the architects Ildiko Mitru and Ștefan Paskucz, the Indfloor Group team began the development of the new product, which, with its installation in 2015, managed to value the perimeter targeted for modernization.
The new surface (thickness of 4 cm) was installed only after successfully passing the testing of about 8 months, during which it was subjected to the weather conditions, the action of the weight of the vehicles, the pedestrian flow, etc.
The marble stone-based flooring was laid out in two colors so as to highlight the outline of the former St Stephen’s Church as well as the archaeological remains discovered. They can be observed by the public today through transparent safety glass boxes.
Thanks to the lighting, which occupied another major place in the rehabilitation process of the Citadel Square, the project was awarded the 3rd place in the international contest People’s Choice Award 2015. The award ceremony took place on September 25, 2015 in Helsinki.
Currently, the Citadel Square has become an urban space with a predominantly cultural and religious destination that attracts both locals and tourists.
Before listing some of the most important advantages of this draining floor, it should be mentioned that Indfloor Group is the only company in the field of flooring in Romania that can install Conipave – stone-based draining floor in the country. This is a system certified and technically approved by the National Institute for Research and Development in Construction, Urbanism and Sustainable Territorial Development “URBAN-INCERC”, following the steps taken by the representatives of the Indfloor Group company.
The Conipave system – stone-based drainage floor is a system consisting of stone with proper resistance (marble, granite, etc.) mixed with polyurethane binder, then poured as a floor.
The most important advantages of this draining floor:
– special resistance
– allows installation on an uneven surface (the floor installed in Citadel Square takes up the unevenness given by the roots of the emblematic trees in the area)
– it is a permeable system that lets the soil breathe and, at the same time, allows water to infiltrate, preventing the formation of puddles and ice pellicles (the project in Baia Mare did not aim at the development of a sewage network, due to this great advantage of the Conipave system )
– represents the ideal solution to replace the ordinary appearance of concrete
– it is easy to maintain
– it offers the possibility to create a particularly varied range of colours/types of stone (there is the option of combining the colours of the stones)
– has a natural appearance
* Note
The Conipave stone-based drainage floor can also be installed on roads with vehicles access, but a speed limit of 25 km/h is required.
Thickness
The stone-based drainage floor can be applied in thicknesses of 10-40 mm, over support layers made of compacted stone or concrete.
Eco Friendly
This system is environmentally friendly, does not contain hazardous chemicals or potentially carcinogenic substances and does not pollute the environment.
Safety
Conipave presents a low risk of slip injuries.
Durability
The life span of the draining floor is at least 10 years, after which the surface can be restored.
Maintenance
The maintenance of this draining floor can be done either manually or with the help of special machines. The stone-based draining floor can be washed with clean water or detergent, using high-pressure water pumps or special outdoor street floor cleaning machines. During the cold season, the snow should be removed with rubber tools or with the help of special machines, avoiding damage to the stones by breaking.
